A steamy Hell Gate Transit late in the afternoon. Most of the recreational boaters have headed home for the work week and we have the Gate to ourselves….more or less.

Nice shots. Interesting perspective too! Did you climb up the bow pole of the barge to get them? FYI I’ll be taking BIANKA (world’s first electrically propelled Nonsuch) into New York to be part of the flotilla that welcomes Reid Stowe back to NY in mid June. I’ll be drifting down the East River and of course be giving the Tugboats a wide berth and monitoring ch 13 & 16. Do you know of any Tugs going to be part of the flotilla?
It’s the foremast, And yes it was a great day. Check it out. bb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBEgSC17N2I
Looks like you had a great front row seat for the Hell Gate transit. I like the trip down the East River myself. I enjoy it even more now with electric propulsion. I get a kick when my boat is drifting faster than the cars on the FDR Drive. I also really like those time lapse journeys of yours.
Captain Brucato-
How would you compare a Hells Gate transit to a Cape Cod Canal Transit?
Look forward to seeing you back up this way at some point. –
I think that’s a good idea for an article. I’ll work on it.
