As a recreational boat owner, I very much appreciate your blog and the commercial information you provide. Most recently, the SAFER SEAS-11.01.2018, the latest NTSB document on vessel casualty investigations caught my attention and made for serious reading.
I’ve made 20 passages through N Y harbor on my way from the Mid-Atlantic to Maine and have made an effort to be in touch with commercial traffic on channel 13. Reading about the challenges faced by tugs and tows has certainly increased my awareness and improved my seamanship.
Thanks, Ross Chapple
I’m happy you found this useful. The primary reason this blog exists is to inform and educate those who are in the industry as well as the recreational boating public. When the recreational community has insight as to what the commercial operator sees every day, we are all safer.
